Mike Reed Joins Top Transportation Automation Provider to Accelerate Product Expansion

CHICAGO (June 21, 2017) – project44, the logistics and transportation industry’s leading automation, optimization, and visibility provider, has hired former SVP at Echo Global Logistics, Mike Reed, as their Chief Strategy Officer. Reed will spearhead project44’s expansion efforts as they continue to build the industry’s leading quote-to-invoice automation platform.

With a background in technology development, product management, and business process redesign, Reed served in multiple technology roles within Echo Global Logistics since joining in 2007, including Director of Product Management and Chief Technology Officer.

In order to compete in today’s Amazon-driven market, logistics and transportation executives are rethinking their growth strategies and are turning to automation to fast-track their ability to innovate and enhance the customer experience,” said CEO and Founder of project44 Jett McCandless. With experience guiding technology investments at one of the most progressive logistics providers in our industry, Mike brings with him a unique market view that accelerates how project44 will meet not only the current, but also the future demands of our customer base.”

Last year alone, project44 empowered their customer-based to achieve an additional $143M in productivity benefits compared their counterparts still leveraging legacy technologies. In this new role, Reed will serve as a strategic accelerator—discovering additional ways to provide greater and greater value to project44’s rapidly growing list of enterprise customers. Most immediately, that means increasing the speed at which the company translates their quote-to-invoice automation solutions into new modes—enabling a full expansion into the complex truckload, intermodal and rail segments.

Today, there are few barriers to entry in the logistics technology market, but building a secure, one-to-many network business is very difficult. Not only was project44 the pioneering voice of modern connectivity in this industry, but over the past 15-months they have emerged as the undeniable leader in automation and visibility,” said Reed. From my experience, it’s clear that their API-based model, paired with project44’s best-in-class technology expertise and deep industry knowledge, will outpace the digital transformation achieved by any other technology provider in the industry. Ultimately, delivering exponentially more value to the project44 client-base over the next three years and beyond.”

This announcement comes on the heels of the technology provider’s newly launched capabilities designed to enable the industry’s first real-time and fully automated Volume LTL quoting and tendering experience. Reed rounds out a heavy-hitting executive team at project44, which boasts a unique combination of industry veterans, domain specialists and enterprise SaaS (Software as a Service) experts and architects.
